ASIST is the most widely used suicide intervention model in the world. In this 2-day interactive workshop, learn how to:

  • Recognise when someone may be at risk of suicide
  • Respond in ways that help increase their immediate safety (including reviewing risk and developing safe plans)
  • Understand why suicide thoughts are present and link person at risk of suicide to further help

ASIST is run by registered LivingWorks trainers and uses internationally standardised learning materials.

We will be delivering Version 12 ASIST (latest version).

You are invited to advance your professional skills and knowledge through this highly valued training (certificate provided). Based on the Calm Conversations programs (Calm Consulting Pty Ltd) this training explores reflective models and questions and takes a deeper dive into our feelings, emotions and reactions. It looks at communication and thinking styles, managing and responding to anger and conflict and the ability to support someone to reframe a situation.

This 12-hour (2-day) Standard Mental Health First Aid course teaches any adult (18 years and over) how to provide initial support to someone who is experiencing a mental health problem or crisis.

Learn about:

  • the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in adults
  • how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help
  • what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective
  • how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.

Date: April/May TBC

safeTALK is recognised as essential first level Suicide Intervention Training. It is a half-day  introductory course developed by LivingWorks Education for participants who want to develop more knowledge and skills concerning suicide, suicide awareness and prevention. The workshop offers participants an opportunity to role play some practice. The workshop is around 4 hours duration.

Please note this is an ideal  precursor to full ASIST training.

ARCVic provides tailored training for organisations seeking to create program offerings for clients, to upskill their staff and/or volunteers.

We will liaise with your organisation or business to gain context: assessing your needs and designing suitable training.

My experiencing as a support group facilitator has been extremely
rewarding. I can see the benefits the groups provide our participants when they
return each session with things to share, and many say that they are just
grateful to have a safe space to connect with people going through similar
things. Some participants have also expressed that in Victoria they cannot
access support groups similar to those that ARCVic provides (e.g. for body
dysmorphia), so they are grateful that ARCVic allows them to share on these
